Candid Photographs that Capture the Authenticity of Parenthood
Authentic, candid, real - those are the types of images I live for! I keep thinking back to the photograph above and I’m so glad I added it to my client’s gallery. I had second thoughts I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure if they would like it or not because obviously the toddler was having a complete meltdown lol. Sure enough though, mom smiled through and dad had a good laugh. They ended up loving this picture. This is real, this is parenthood, and honestly this is how a lot of sessions end with little ones anyway and that’s OKAY!
Not sure if you’ve read my home page but I mention that I like to capture the smiles, the chaos, and everything in between - I mean it! These images are true memories of who we are at whatever stage of life we’re in. After all, that’s why we take pictures right? To document milestones and memories. I look for the moments and interactions that happen regularly but we don’t think twice about. Like when a parent is comforting a child, tying a shoe, buttoning a button, or wiping a tear. Moments like this capture the authenticity of parenthood.
So, with Fall Minis right around the corner, I want to remind everyone that moments like this happen often at sessions and that’s OKAY! Kids will be kids. My advice is to laugh it off and make the most of it. Don’t be surprised if you get an image like the one above and it ends up being one of your favorite!
Below are some more examples of these simple moments that truly represent the authenticity of parenthood, they are perfectly imperfect . . .
